About Barnard Castle Ramblers

The Barnard Castle Ramblers Group is part of the Ramblers Association. The group has a membership of about 100. It is a very active and successful group, it celebrated it’s 40th anniversary in 2006 and is still going strong!

Based in Teesdale the group gets most of it's members from the Barnard Castle area, although it does get many members from further away. It is a friendly and welcoming group with a very relaxed approach. It always welcomes new members.
The group has a walk most weeks of the year, sometimes having more than one. The walks are usually between 8 and 12 miles in length. The walking is very varied, taking in the valleys and the high moorlands and fells. As well as the local dales, the group often visits the Yorkshire dales, North Yorks moors and the Lake District. Periodically we have shorter introductory walks so as to attract new members. The group also has holidays in various parts of Britain and abroad.

See the menu options for details of our officers. Also look at the photocall of some of our group.
